Demotivate yourself!

March 8th, 2010.

Everybody from time to time has to do something he or she hates. Doesn't matter if it's to take out the trash, do that weekly report, preparing annual tax or to do whatever else, it usually ends the same way. What we do? We procrastinate, we demotivate ourselves by repeat things like "I don't want to" and we complete many other irrelevant tasks just to keep us away from it. In a state of feeling bad. What may be unexpected, is that having so much training with it, we can turn our antimotivation - so to speak - to actually work as an advantage. The key is to use it on purpose.

To make it work we have to let that unwanted feeling in. Yes, you read correctly. When it shows up invite it, but on your terms. Stand in front of a mirror, look in your own eyes and say. "I don't like to..." and feel in the blank. Repeat it in a variety of ways like "I will not..." and "I do not feel the need for..." etc. Keep your mind focused and concentrate on making your feelings boil. What will happen than, when the pressure will make the cover pop - your energy will be concentrated on one task. To COMPLETE that DAMN THING and GET OVER with!

However strange it may sound - it works! Let me explain how it's possible. One of the reasons we don't even start dealing with unwanted task is that we don't feel energized enough about it. Other is that we do whatever we can to remove it from our mind. The method showed above flips it back. We concentrate on the subject, we say it loudly what has an additional effect on our brain and we use phrases, that our subconscious deals with in a specific way.

Subconscious part of our minds has a gap. That gap is that it can't negate. Wherever we put "no" - our subconscious puts blank, so our "I do not want to" becomes "I do want to"! By repeating it we program our mind to be set to work on subject and by putting feelings into that we add energy to that “cauldron” above our necks. Making it for some time does our brain steaming and then it goes POP! and we move to it like a tank. It's better not to be in our way then!

One of ways to improve life is to start with what we have and make it work as an advantage. If our eyes let us know they have enough - lets use it to rethink our way of using them, make a break and listen to some audiobooks per example. If we feel angry on somebody we may look at our feelings and think why we react like that. Many times we'll be surprised of the reasons, because often it has nothing to do with the current situation.

And if you feel down with something? What if you feel nothing will make you up? We may choose to make it work for us, not against us. So use it for something. Transform that potential energy of laziness into kinetic. Go to the mirror and start demotivating yourself like crazy!
